AVHRR Images - Mosaics of East Antarctica

Mosaics of AVHRR infra-red (b4) data are prepared at nominally 6-hourly intervals by the AMC at Casey. The McIDAS files are reformatted at the CRC to gif files and presented for viewing using www browse tools by an automated system. They are provided at two resolutions: low with 8 km pixels, and high with 4 km pixels. A better quality image can probably be obtained by using a gif viewing tool, such as (UNIX) xv, on your own host.
